The Executive Committee
   

This body is comprised ob volunteers and founder members of the organizations. They are predominantly women’s rights activist with academic qualifications in diverse disciplines and some religious scholars.
The Executive committee is headed by the Secretary General who is also the Executive Director of the organization.  

   

TREASURER
Jarrai Touray-Daffeh is a trained midwife by profession and specialized in community health nursing. She obtained her Masters in Community Health Nursing in 2001 at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Jarrai has worked in different parts of the country for 30 years. Her field experience as midwife has motivated her to join GAMCOTRAP in creating awareness on the health hazards of FGM on women and children.

 

ASSISTANT SECRETARY GENERAL

Mamsira Jobe-Kurang is a professional Secretary. She earned her professionalism from years of experience and professional studies in different colleges in the U.K She has worked in The Gambia High Commission in London and different government departments. She has worked at Gambia Telecommunication Company – GAMTEL as Private Secretary to the Managing Director until 2005. She is currently the First Registrar with the Gambia Multimedia Training Institute. The U.K’s most leading Association of Office Professional as an affiliate member of the Institute of Qualified Professional Secretaries has recognized her professionalism by giving her an award in 2005.

RELIGIOUS ADVISER

Imam Baba Muhtarr Leigh advocates for the rights of women. In his childhood years he studied Islam from his father, before he proceeded to a Franco Arab high school in Dakar in 1972.

After teaching for few years in The Gambia, in 1976, he went to Libya where he continued to study Arabic Islamic studies and Electronics. He got a diploma in electronics from El Fateh University in Tripoli. His membership in GAMCOTRAP has influenced him to advocate for women’s rights.

ASSISTANT PUBLICITY SECRETARY

Lang Dibba is one of the long term dedicated male Volunteers of GAMCOTRAP. He is an experienced cameraman and he is presently a Principal Producer at the Gambia Radio and Television Service. He has consistently demonstrated commitment to the cause of women and children of The Gambia with his membership in a feminist oriented organisation.
